The current house, built on the remains of the old one that was bombed in WWII, was completed in 1970 (architects A. Volberg, P. Tarvas, U. Tölpus), renovated in 1998 (architect A. Kuldlepp) and the final side building was completed in 2001.
In addition to being an excellent concert venue, Vanemuine can also house conferences – a place where not just good music is echoed, but also intelligent thoughts and knowledge. As with the name, the concert house shares the building with the theatre.
Vanemuise Concert Hall is the place for all of Tartu’s festive events – the annual university ball, the county- and town government events, schools’ opening and graduation ceremonies, award ceremonies. It also houses a very successful jazz bar.
