Audience interest in the various manifestations of Old Barny is unremitting. Kivirähk has crafted a witty and truly excellent generalisation with his novel that does not lack humour or social criticism. Very witty and very sharp – as Kivirähk usually is...
The opera is like life itself, only even more colourful. About us ourselves yesterday, today, tomorrow… as an odd group of people living in a filthy part of the world, believing in and hoping for the best although surrounded by an endless November all the year round.
The story is about Old Barny, a.k.a. a barn-keeper by the name of Sander, who witnesses the greed for profit of his people and their big dreams and smaller aspirations, trying to shift them from their sly pragmatism towards more human spheres.

If you get goose bumps while listening to music, it doesn’t matter whether you’re listening to Metsatöll playing folk metal, to a children’s song or to the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra!
Tauno Aints
