Telemann. “Der getreue Music-Meister” / “The Constant Music Master”
Artwork: Francesco Bartolozzi. “Music Lesson” (1751)
Introduction by art historian Aleksandra Murre

In cooperation with the Kadriorg Art Museum

An evening filled with the warmth, intimacy and simplicity of music performed at home.
Telemann wrote “Der getreue Music-Meister” (1728), a cycle consisting of small compositions in seventy different genres, for students or hobbyists. This simple music could be played by anyone, so the fact that it will be performed by Estonia’s best and most experienced baroque gurus who have been on stage for years, carries a particular philosophy – back to basics. Performing such simple compositions presents the musicians with a challenge. Will these masters who are used to great and complex works, still know how to be convincing and enjoyable in this role?

The concert series “Ringing masterpieces in Kadriorg” allows the listener to feel like nobility as they enjoy a concert in the environment in which art was consumed by the bold and the beautiful of past centuries. A lovely symbiosis of music and fine arts with the interior of the hall adding its own colour to the performance. Value is added by the rare opportunity to use the concert ticket to visit the museum’s exhibitions.
