JANE EYRE

„What am I supposed to do
Sit around and wait for you?
Well I can’t do that”
Cher, „Believe”

From an early age, Jane learns that the land of bliss is a place where the restless are made to sit still, the ugly are scrubbed into respectability, and the hot-blooded are hustled up to the attic to cool down.

So, under these conditions, is it better to be good or to be free?

The only one to know the answer is the wind sweeping across the mooooors…

First published in 1847, Jane Eyre has become, for many, their first great novel experience. It’s a love story, it’s a horror story, it’s a life story, it’s a story of life-affirming resistance, it’s a story of healthy defiance.
