For two nights only, Estonia's premier orchestra transforms into a powerful, symphonic funk band.
A monumental figure in music history, the 28-time Grammy winner Quincy Jones (1933–2024) was defined by uncompromised quality. His artistic vision and distinct style shaped the trajectory of pop, jazz, and cinematic music—ranging from Frank Sinatra's hits and Michael Jackson's landmark album „Thriller” to iconic Hollywood film scores.
Jules Buckley is a Grammy-winning, genre-defying composer, conductor, and arranger who has dedicated much of his career to preserving the legacy of his mentor and collaborator. This Buckley-curated program offers a retrospective of Jones's musical milestones through orchestral arrangements personally approved by the late maestro.
The program originally debuted to immense acclaim at the 2016 BBC Proms in London, where Buckley led the Metropole Orkest, the pinnacle of Dutch jazz ensembles, in a grand tribute to Jones. This concert production subsequently traveled to Stuttgart, Paris, Montreux, and Seattle, and featured prominently at Quincy Jones's 85th birthday gala at London's O2 Arena. In 2023, Buckley also helmed the maestro's 90th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl, conducting a star-studded lineup that included Stevie Wonder and John Legend.
