Brahms. String Sextet
Hidden treasures of Estonian string music are brought to light in a programme highlighting the legacy of local composers and performers. At its heart is Artur Lemba—an internationally renowned pianist and one of the founders of professional composition in Estonia. His late-Romantic works, influenced by Russian and German traditions, are noted for their lyricism and harmonic richness. This performance of Lemba's string trio and sextet is believed to be their first in modern times.
The scores were prepared by the Estonian Music Information Centre under the artistic leadership of pianist Sten Lassmann as part of a project to record these chamber works.
