WESTLIFE TO PERFORM IN RIGA NEXT SUMMER 

Legendary Irish boy band Westlife will perform in Latvia next year as part of their spectacular 25th anniversary tour. The first leg of the tour this autumn has already proven hugely successful, with all concerts completely sold out. The tour will continue next summer, giving countless fans the chance to relive the emotions and memories of their millennial school years at a concert at Xiaomi Arena on June 12 in Riga. 

Tickets go on sale on May 15 at 10:00 AM via the “Biļešu Serviss” network. Members of the Positivus Festival and FBI Concert Club, as well as Delfi Plus subscribers, will have access to a presale starting May 14 at 10:00 AM using a code that will be sent to registered users. 

The group’s story began in the late 1990s in the Irish town of Sligo, where Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan decided to form a band after performing in their school musical, “Grease.” Originally known as 6 as 1 and I.O.YOU, the group later welcomed Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden, adopted the name Westlife, and quickly became one of Europe’s most popular pop acts. 

With their debut single “Swear It Again,” the band topped the UK charts, becoming the first boy band in history whose first three singles debuted at number one in the United Kingdom. Their success continued as they became the only group whose first seven singles all reached number one in the UK charts. Over the course of their career, the group has won two Brit Awards, four MTV Awards, and a World Music Award, while also earning four entries in the Guinness World Records. 

To date, Westlife has released eleven studio albums and achieved sixteen UK number-one singles. Their music has been streamed billions of times, while their tours have attracted millions of fans around the world. After taking a creative break in 2012, the group reunited in 2018 with the release of the album “Spectrum,” followed by “Wild Dreams.” Since reuniting, the band has performed more than 200 concerts across 30 countries. 

Fans attending the Riga concert can expect to hear iconic hits including “Swear It Again,” “Flying Without Wings,” and “You Raise Me Up,” along with many other songs from the band’s 25-year career. “This year is especially meaningful for us as it marks 25 years since we began this incredible journey, and it still feels like we’re only getting started. The support from our fans has been phenomenal, and celebrating it with a world tour, new music, and a new album means so much to us,” the band members said.
