Philip Glass’s and Robert Wilson “Einstein on the Beach”, a work that probes the conceptual boundaries of the opera genre, takes the audience on a journey where it becomes possible to glimpse behind the scenes of the operatic world and experience the performing arts from an entirely new perspective. The Kreenholm Manufactory lends this stage work a rare dimension. The monumental walls of the former industrial empire become a scenic. partner to a work that is itself a monument — one of the boldest and most influential landmarks of 20th-century music theatre. Here in Narva, industrial heritage, minimalist music, and the freedom of contemporary performance art meet. The performance lasts five hours without an interval. During the performance, the audience is free to move around. A bar will also be open.
