Laid Back - Sunshine Reggae Night
“Sunshine Reggae” legends Laid Back will perform in Estonia for the very first time
On the evening of October 3, Tallinn’s Alexela Concert Hall will host more than just a concert – it will be a journey back to a time when music felt light, hypnotic and full of freedom. For the first time ever, the legendary Danish band Laid Back is coming to Estonia, bringing songs that continue to echo across generations and around the world.
“Sunshine Reggae”, “White Horse”, “Bakerman” – these are not simply songs, but symbols of an entire era. Behind them stand two musicians who have always chosen their own direction – John Guldberg and Tim Stahl.
John Guldberg, the voice of the band and one of its main songwriters, has always avoided following trends:
“We never tried to be fashionable. Maybe that’s why our music still sounds as fresh today as it did back then.”
Meanwhile, Tim Stahl, the architect behind the group’s unmistakable sound, reveals that their biggest hits were born unexpectedly:
“‘Sunshine Reggae’ was never planned to become a hit. It was a mood, a moment, an atmosphere. Sometimes the best things happen when you don’t plan them.”
For more than four decades, Laid Back have kept alive a mystery many artists still try to understand – how to create music that is simple yet unforgettable. Their uniqueness lies in turning minimalism into something powerful: a few chords, an easy groove and hypnotic vocals become music that crosses generations, time and musical styles.
Laid Back were among the first artists to subtly combine electronic music with reggae rhythms, creating a sound instantly recognizable from the very first notes.
The musicians themselves say the secret lies in emotion:
“We are still searching for that special feeling in every song. If it’s there, people feel it immediately.”
The Laid Back concert in Tallinn promises not only nostalgia, but also surprises. The band hints that the audience may hear fresh live reinterpretations of their classic hits, along with a few surprises they are still keeping secret.
Why should you experience this concert? Because it is a rare opportunity to see live a band whose music became the soundtrack of summer all over the world. It will be an evening where thousands of people sing legendary songs together, and the simple “laid back” feeling turns into something unforgettable.
This is not just a concert – it is an emotion that can only be experienced here and now.
One thing is certain: it will be a night where past and present meet, while the hall fills with the hypnotic calm and timeless atmosphere of Laid Back’s music.
