Keskpäevakontsert. Ruja 55
Rein Rannap (piano)
Kristjan Kannukene (vocals, viola, guitars)
Rein Rannap, founder and composer of the legendary Estonian rock group Ruja, joins forces with versatile multi-instrumentalist Kristjan Kannukene to revisit the band’s groundbreaking repertoire. The duo, whose previous collaboration yielded the album "Keelatud!" (Early Songs of Ruja), brings renewed perspective to music that reshaped Estonian popular culture.
The ensemble derived its name from a neologism proposed by linguist Endel Vannas to denote a realm of pure imagination. Ruja gave its inaugural performance in 1971; performing these timeless works on International Music Day marks fifty-five years since the group’s inception.
