Dead By April (SWE)

 

On 4 October, one of the best-known names in Swedish modern metal, Dead by April, will perform at Helitehas in Tallinn. Swedish melodic metal band Cyhra will appear as the evening’s special guest. Public ticket sales begin on 3 July via Piletilevi.

 

Over the course of more than 15 years, Dead by April have developed a distinctive sound that combines heavy guitar riffs, electronic influences, melodic choruses, and the contrast between clean and screamed vocals. The band’s breakthrough came with songs such as “Losing You”, “What Can I Say”, “Within My Heart”, and “Mystery”, which helped establish them as one of Sweden’s most internationally recognised modern metal acts.

 

Following a seven-year gap between full-length releases, Dead by April released their fifth studio album, “The Affliction”. Consisting of 14 tracks, the album showcases the band’s most experimental side to date, featuring five collaborations and one remix while moving between metalcore, electronic rock, rap, and soaring pop-influenced choruses.

 

One of the album’s most powerful tracks, “Everest”, combines a hard-hitting drum beat, Dead by April’s signature guitar riffs, a captivating chorus, and rap vocals. The darker “Swarm Mode” explores depression, loss of motivation, and the feeling of having no direction in life, while also highlighting the band’s more musically complex side. “Outcome”, created in collaboration with Smash Into Pieces and Samuel Ericson, brings together modern metal, electronics, and rap, while also drawing on the sound of early-2000s alternative metal.

 

The special guest at the Tallinn concert, Cyhra, combines classic heavy metal, modern production, and strongly melodic choruses. The band’s members have past and present connections to several well-known metal acts, and since their debut, Cyhra have established themselves as a notable name on the European melodic metal scene.
