A new live music project is taking shape in Tallinn. Lucky Penny Club is for those who believe live music is best experienced up close.

Rockabilly, psychobilly and the sounds that surround them. Carefully selected bands, professional sound and intimate venues where the distance between artist and audience almost disappears.

At Lucky Penny Club, quality comes first. Every show is built around professional sound production and top-tier audio equipment, bringing powerful, detailed live sound into an intimate setting.

This is not about the size of the venue or the size of the crowd. It is about the music, the energy and that unmistakable feeling that makes people come back to live shows.

The first night of Lucky Penny Club

For its opening night, Lucky Penny Club has chosen The Moonshine Stalkers – a London psychobilly trio whose sound combines rockabilly rhythms, raw energy and dark British humour.

Formed in 2010, the band brings years of international live experience, with performances across Europe and the United States. In 2025, The Moonshine Stalkers also appeared at Spain’s Psychobilly Meeting, bringing their distinctive sound to one of the scene’s dedicated international gatherings.

They are exactly the kind of band Lucky Penny Club was created to bring to Tallinn: experienced musicians with a sound of their own, plenty of character and the kind of energy that can make an intimate venue come alive.

The Moonshine Stalkers will be the very first band to take the stage in Tallinn under the Lucky Penny Club name.

And that first show says a lot about what Lucky Penny Club intends to become: international-calibre artists, intimate venues, outstanding sound and an audience close enough to the stage not simply to hear the music, but to feel it.

The story behind Lucky Penny Club

Behind Lucky Penny Club is Andrei Lesment, whose relationship with this music began at sixteen, when he picked up his first guitar. Encouraged to study classical piano, he found his own direction instead in the rhythm, attitude and raw energy of rockabilly. What began as a little teenage rebellion became a lifelong passion.

At twenty, after completing his military service, Andrei formed his first band, Jolly Roger. The Tramps and Jumping Wheels followed, along with appearances on the same stages as Rock Hotel with Ivo Linna, Mister Twister and other artists.

Music became something he came to understand from both sides of the stage – as a performer and as a devoted fan.

Moving to the UK brought him even closer to the scene, where he got to know bands including Restless, The Blue Cats and The Long Tall Texans, as well as America’s legendary Stray Cats. Those encounters and experiences only deepened a passion that has stayed with him ever since.

Today, Andrei runs his restaurant business and no longer performs professionally, but music – and the guitar – remain very much a part of his life.

The idea for Lucky Penny Club began to take shape through a series of live music events at One Sixty Smokehouse in Tallinn. The response from local audiences and visitors from neighbouring countries showed that this music has an audience here – and that people want to experience it live, close and without compromise.

The next step felt natural: bring to Tallinn the bands Andrei genuinely believes in and create nights where every detail – from the choice of artist and atmosphere to the quality of the sound – serves one purpose:

Great live music deserves to be experienced up close.

And so, Lucky Penny Club was born.
