BRITPOP GIANTS: Take That to perform in Estonia next summer

One of the most successful and beloved British pop groups of all time, Take That, are coming to Estonia with their European tour “Dreamers” next summer. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen will take the stage at Tartu Song Festival Grounds on Wednesday, 16 June 2027, bringing more than 35 years of pop history, era-defining hits and new music to one of Estonia’s most iconic open-air venues.

Formed in Manchester in 1990, Take That became one of the defining British pop acts of their generation and have since built a career remarkable not only for its longevity, but for its ability to find new audiences across several decades. The group currently consists of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, while Robbie Williams and Jason Orange were also members of the original five-piece line-up.

Their catalogue includes some of British pop’s most enduring songs, from “Back for Good”, “Never Forget”, “Pray” and “Relight My Fire” to “Patience”, “Shine”, “Greatest Day” and “Rule the World”. The latter provided one of the defining musical moments of the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony, when Take That performed the song as the Olympic Flame was extinguished.

Few pop groups have managed a second chapter as successful as Take That. Robbie Williams left the group in 1995 and the band split the following year, but a documentary and greatest-hits release brought Barlow, Donald, Owen and Orange back together a decade later. Their 2006 comeback album “Beautiful World” began an extraordinary new period for the group, followed by the hugely successful “The Circus” in 2008.

Williams returned for 2010’s “Progress”, the first album featuring all five original members since 1995. It became the fastest-selling album of the 21st century in the UK at the time, while the accompanying Progress Live tour broke Take That’s own record for the fastest-selling tour in UK history.

Since 2014, Take That have continued as the trio of Barlow, Donald and Owen. Their ninth studio album, “This Life”, released in November 2023, delivered another major commercial success. Within days of release it recorded the biggest opening-week sales by a British act in the UK that year, ahead of new releases from Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones.

The group’s extraordinary journey was revisited again in January 2026 with the three-part Netflix documentary “Take That”, featuring previously unseen archive footage and new interviews with Barlow, Donald and Owen. Much of the intimate material came from Donald’s own camcorder tapes and diaries documenting the band’s life from the 1990s onwards.

“We really wanted to tell our story properly,” Barlow said ahead of the documentary’s release. “Our story is amazing, and we were all excited about sharing it in a way people haven’t seen before.”

For Mark Owen, looking back also highlighted how unusual Take That’s longevity has been. “I keep thinking how amazing it is that we’ve done so many things in the last 35 years, that it’s even possible for us to make a three-hour documentary with Netflix,” he said.

Take That are meanwhile firmly focused on what comes next. In 2026 the band returned to the road with The Circus Live, revisiting the spectacular concept of their record-breaking 2009 tour, while also beginning a new musical chapter. Their tenth studio album is due in late 2026, with the first new single “You’re a Superstar” released in March 2026 and followed by “Sweet July” in July.

The combination of new music and a catalogue spanning more than three decades brings Take That to Tartu in the summer of 2027 as a band whose story is still being written. Their concerts have long been central to that story: from record-breaking UK stadium tours to royal celebrations, the London Olympics and performances for audiences around the world.
