On December 1, 2025, the legendary Japanese instrumental rock band MONO will bring their breathtaking soundscapes to Paavli Kultuurivabrik in Tallinn. Known for their seamless fusion of orchestral grandeur and shoegaze-infused guitar noise, MONO has captivated audiences worldwide for over 25 years, earning them a reputation as one of the most compelling live acts in modern music.

Formed in Tokyo in 1999, MONO has transcended genre limitations, existing in a realm of their own. British music magazine NME once described their music as “for the Gods”, a testament to the band’s ability to craft deeply emotional and immersive sonic experiences. With 12 studio albums to their name, including the upcoming "OATH" that was released on June 14, 2024.

MONO’s stirring live performances have earned them a devoted international following. Having performed in over 60 countries, their concerts are known for their intensity, beauty, and cinematic atmosphere. A defining moment in their career was the 10th anniversary orchestra tour, where they performed alongside NHK Symphony Orchestra master Fuminori Shinozaki. In 2018, they were personally invited by Robert Smith of The Cure to perform at London’s Meltdown Festival, sharing the stage with Nine Inch Nails, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, and Deftones—an unforgettable honor that solidified their influence in the experimental rock world.

Beyond their studio albums and live shows, MONO has also gained acclaim as film score composers, with notable works including “The 4th Company”, “Where We Begin”, and “All God’s Children Can Dance”, based on a short story by Haruki Murakami. Their work on “My Story, the Buraku Story” earned first place at the 96th Kinema Junpo Best Ten Cultural Film Awards, further proving their ability to evoke deep emotion through sound.
