Buena Vista Orchestra

Su 25.01.2026 • 19:00 - 21:00Estonia pst. 9, Tallinn, Harjumaa

Cuban music will heat up Estonian cold winter on January 25th, 2026, when the legendary trombonist and musical director Jesús "Aguaje" Ramos take the stage with His Buena Vista Orchestra at Alexela Concert Hall.

Ramos, born in 1951 in Cuba, is best known as the original orchestra leader and trombonist of the Buena Vista Social Club. He has also been a central figure in the ensembles Estrellas de Areito and the Afro-Cuban Allstars, and has worked closely with Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, and Omara Portuondo – both in the studio and on tour. His role in bringing Cuban music to international attention was documented in the Oscar-nominated 1999 film “Buena Vista Social Club”, where his story and musical journey play a pivotal role.

From 2014 to 2016, Ramos served as musical director of the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club on their final Adiós tour, performing across the globe to sold-out audiences. In 2024, Ramos assembled a new iteration of the Buena Vista Orchestra, bringing together key players from the original project and launching a major U.S. tour. They spent three months on the road and played for thousands of fans, new and old. Their adventure culminated in the release of “USA TOUR 2024 - 12 LIVE RECORDINGS” on, the first time in decades the group’s music will be available on CD and vinyl.

The 2025 tour sees the ensemble travel through Canada, the UK, Brazil and Europe, including arriving to Estonia in the beginning of next year. The international lineup includes original BVSC members Luis "Betún" Mariano Valiente Marín (Congas, Bongo) and Fabián García (Bass), alongside a new generation of Cuban artists.

Ramos and his orchestra continue to draw from the Buena Vista legacy – both its timeless classics and lesser-known gems – with a repertoire rooted in the traditions of Cuban son, bolero and danzón.

Buena Vista Social Club and its related projects are the most successful Cuban music project in history. As one critic put it, Buena Vista has become “world music’s equivalent of The Dark Side of the Moon.”
