As summer comes to a close and a new school year begins, Riga will host the very first Fantadroms – Riga International Kite Festival, a new international cultural event that brings together renowned kite artists and creative teams from around the world.

Fantadroms celebrates art, design, movement and togetherness, creating a unique experience for visitors of all ages. Throughout the day, the festival will feature spectacular kite flying performances by internationally acclaimed artists, creative workshops for children and young people, and a wide range of interactive activities.

Designed as both a celebration of the end of summer and a welcoming event for the new school year, Fantadroms aims to become a new annual tradition in the Baltics while strengthening Riga's reputation as an international destination for culture and creativity.

The festival takes place at Eksporta iela 3A, Riga Passenger Port – Cruise Terminal, on the banks of the Daugava River in the heart of Riga.

12:00–20:00 Kite artists' demonstrations

Kite artists from around the world will gather in Riga to fill the sky with spectacular kites of different shapes, sizes, and colours, creating a unique experience for both children and adults.

12:00–15:00 Kite-making workshop

Under the guidance of experienced kite artists, visitors will have the opportunity to build and decorate their own personal kites, then fly them together with others.

Bridgit Polk – Stone Balancing Performance

13:00–17:00

Artist Bridgit Polk returns to Riga to present her remarkable stone balancing performance. Each sculpture is created without the use of glue or any other binding materials, relying solely on balance and precision. Visitors are invited to watch the performance live.

14:00–16:00 Meet professional kiteboarders and watch kiteboarding demonstrations on the Daugava River

Alongside the artistic kite displays, world-class kiteboarders will perform spectacular jumps, tricks, and acrobatic displays on the waters of the Daugava River. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the athletes and chat with them in person. Experience speed, energy, and adrenaline in the heart of Riga.

12:00–20:00 Picnic featuring some of Riga's best restaurants

A selection of Riga's restaurants will offer their special picnic menus, inviting everyone to gather and enjoy great food on the banks of the Daugava River.

12:00–20:00 End-of-summer party

29 August marks the last Saturday of summer, with only a few days remaining before the start of the new school year. Together with our radio partner, we invite everyone to celebrate the end of summer with friends and family, enjoy a festive atmosphere, and welcome the autumn season with inspiration.
