Echoes of Kreenholm – An Audio Walk as Part of the Narva Opera Days
Kreenholm is silent. Or so it seems.
Put on your headphones, and the silence begins to fill with sound.
The rush of water. The roar of weaving machines. Workers' voices. A church choir. The dam siren. A strike. Radio broadcasts. Empty factory halls where echoes of the past still linger.
Echoes of Kreenholm is an immersive audio walk through the former textile manufactory, where history unfolds through sounds, voices and memories.
Over the course of 90 minutes, you will experience more than 150 years of Kreenholm's history: the construction of the factory, the hopes of its first workers, the cholera epidemic, strikes, the Soviet era, the golden age of production, bankruptcy and the site's new life.
It is the story of a factory that shaped the destiny of an entire city, and of the people who built it, worked there, loved, protested and were eventually forced to leave.
