''EESTIMAA ATMOSFÄÄRID'' / EUROPA CANTAT XX TALLINN 2018 kontserdid

Su 29/07/2018 20:00
Alexela Kontserdimaja, Tallinn
16.00 - 21.00
“Estonian atmospheres" is a new composition by Pärt Uusberg dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Estonia. The central theme of the work is the cycle of seasons in Estonia. For the first time, all national youth choirs and orchestras – the Estonian United Boys’ Choir KALEV, Estonian National Children’s Choir Ilmalilled, Estonian National Girls’ Choir, Estonian Youth Mixed Choir and Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra – are staging together. The music brings you on a meditative journey through Estonian nature in all four seasons, which begins and ends in winter, when the premiere is held. Uusberg has written new cycles for children’s, female, male and mixed choirs to beautiful texts from Estonian poets like Ernst Enno, Juhan Liiv, Viivi Luik and Henrik Visnapuu, which describe the essence of
Estonian seasons. The whole piece will be connected through seasonal runo songs arranged for a wind-instrument orchestra.
The work will be accompanied by scenic visuals of Estonian nature created by cinematographer Madis Reimund with lightning design by Priidu Adlas and minimalistic set designed by Getter Vahar. The performance will be bound together by interludes by Mait Visnapuu.

In 2014, he completed his Master’s degree at EMTA under Toivo Tulev and Tõnu Kõrvits. In 2011, he received the Veljo Tormis Fund Scholarship and for the fruitful year, the Estonian Choral Association, along with the Estonian Composers’ Union awarded him with the Choral Composer of the Year 2012 award. In 2014, Uusberg was given the scholarship of the Gustav Ernesaks Fund for promoting the choral movement. In 2015, he received the Marje and Kuldar Sink “Young Musician” award and in 2016, The Young Cultural Figure Award.
