Imany returns to Estonia with her magical concert tour “Voodoo Cello”
French singer Imany will return with her successful tour “Voodoo Cello” – a show that combines a mystical union of eight cellos and the vocalist’s deep voice. Imany, who became popular with songs “You Will Never Know” and “Don’t Be So Shy”, will perform at Alexela Concert Hall on the 12th of June.
Following the half-year extension of the incredibly successful and sold-out “Voodoo Cello” tour, Imany will visit Estonia for a second time. The singer will perform her deep, warm and rich sounding setlist, which received a warm welcome in 2022 from a sold-out concert in Tallinn. The concert comprises Imany's versions of iconic pop songs performed by the singer’s characteristic smooth voice and eight cellos.
The French-born, but with Comorian roots singer’s deep voice has been seducing audiences for over ten years by playing a repertoire of soul, folk and blues. Imany has released three studio albums of which the last, “Voodoo Cello”, bears the same name as the current concert tour. “Voodoo Cello” consists of reimagined versions of popular songs that are recorded, arranged, and produced by Imany.
The songs were chosen from classics she’s long internalised, to more recent favourites: “What makes a good cover is when the song becomes your own. I approach the song with voice and guitar, find the key that suits me, I change the tempo… and I listen to the lyrics. I can’t sing words I don’t believe in.”
The deep and rhythmic, almost enchanted songs of the pop-soul diva carry powerful and emotional experiences. The velvety sound of the “Voodoo Cello” concerts forms a supernatural atmosphere, which is further emphasised by a visually captivating lightshow, that makes the concert an utterly magical experience.
The concert’s repertoire consists of song like “The A Team” (Ed Sheeran), “Like A Prayer” (Madonna), “Take Me to Church” (Hozier), “I’m Still Standing” (Elton John), “Total Eclipse of the Heart” (Bonnie Tyler), “Wild World” (Cat Stevens), “All The Things She Said” (t.A.T.u.).
