The concert, entitled „The Flutish Kingdom“, is well worth its name – the ensemble Post Tenebras Flutes, consisting of 15 musicians, brings a number of different flutes to the stage, showing the rich possibilities and exciting timbre of this oldest woodwind instrument. The ensemble was initiated by Estonian flutist Maarika Järvi (from the renowned Järvi music dynasty) in the autumn of 2019. Järvi lives currently in Switzerland, most of the ensemble members come also from Switzerland as well as from France. These professional and enthusiastic musicians are especially passionate about performing contemporary music. In addition, they often blur borders between different genres and epoches: the ensemble’s programmes contain for example music with jazz elements as well as arrangements of the works from the Baroque era. At the Glasperlenspiel, Post Tenebras Flutes will premiere the work by the Swiss composer Blaise Mettraux. The concert programme also includes music by Arvo Pärt, Daniel Schnyder’s jazz-influenced Suite Exotique and pieces by several other prominent composers.
