Barrocade (Israeli Baroque Orchestra), Voces Tallinn

The exhilarating Israeli ensemble Barrocade, known to the festival audience from last year, is coming back, this time with the chamber choir Voces Tallinn and maestro Andres Mustonen, presenting the delightful and brilliant music by the Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi. The sunny 12-part Gloria is one of Vivaldi’s best known sacred works, showing the composer’s mastery of writing for both choir and orchestra. Consisting of a wide variety of emotions from festive brilliance to profound sadness, Vivaldi has managed to maintain in Gloria a cohesive structure and create an artistic whole. Barrocade has performed in all of Israel’s major festivals and concert halls as well as abroad. The orchestra has appeared in the Varaždin Baroque Evenings Festival in Croatia and was granted the Prize of the Excelling Concert. It has also represented Israel in concerts in the USA and Georgia and has played at MustonenFest in Estonia. Voces Tallinn (former Voces Musicales) is a high-level Estonian choir which has long surpassed the scope of a traditional semi-professional collective. Voces Tallinn is well known abroad and has won several prizes, including II prize at Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition in Finland (2009). In 2014, the choir participated as a finalist in the first London International Choir Competition started by The Tallis Scholars and their first CD „Pilgrim’s Song“ (2009) was highly rated by the critics of BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone. In 2015, the choir received the annual music award of the Estonian Culture Endowment.
