The form wrought fro Astor Piazzolla’s tango chains goes through and past the book, borrowing only its impulse and two characters from the work. The novel is not even a framework, it is only the reason for creating a dance form.
Kristiina Garancis, Sirp newspaper (2003)

The work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez captivates me with its deep, mythical sensibility for life, how it penetrates the basic truths of existence. The quintessentially Marquez-like quality where the plot has only a cohesive role is also very characteristic of artistic dance.
This dance production was inspired by Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera -love on the backdrop of death or equating of love and death. Time…time without beginning and end.
I want to stress that this is nevertheless not a plot-driven ballet, but it should be seen more as a surrealistic vision. The 13 scenes that come to life on stage conjure up various facets of life that in co-existence express a certain philosophical outlook on life.

Mai Murdmaa, director
