The Voices of New Year
This festive gala concert is a special event for the sophisticated public. An international cast of soloists, winners of international competitions and residents of Europe's leading opera houses, promise to bring true operatic splendor to the stage. The participation of a symphony orchestra will add even more color to the performance of the soloists.
The young baritone Gagik Vardanyan is not yet 30, but he is confidently making a career not only in his native Armenia, but also in Europe. For several seasons he was a soloist with the youth program of the Staatsoper Hannover. The singer's repertoire includes roles in operas by Verdi and Puccini, Tchaikovsky and even Wagner. He is especially good at the virtuoso arias of Rossini and Donizetti. In April 2023, Gagik, among 12 young singers selected from all over the world, took part in the grandiose project Opera for Peace, in which he performed at a concert in the Eiffel Tower in Paris - along with such legends as soprano Sumi Jo and conductor Kamal Khan.
American tenor Eric Fennell may already be familiar to the Estonian public. Several years ago, he performed on the stage of the Estonia Theater: the geography of his tours covers five continents (the singer performed in Berlin and New York, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and Cairo), and his repertoire includes all famous tenor roles. Interestingly, in addition to opera singing, Eric has been playing hockey since childhood. He even played for Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in his youth.
A finalist of prestigious international opera competitions, mezzo-soprano Lilia Istratii performs at the Bucharest National Opera and the Luxembourg Philharmonic, participates in European music festivals and masters the most complex parts of the world operatic repertoire.
And finally, the prima donna of our evening - the charming Katarzyna Mackiewicz - a recognized star not only of opera, but also of operetta: the unforgettable Silva and Maritza, Hannah Glavari and Rosalind, Odette from "La Bayadere" and Teodora from "Mister X". But also Violetta, Lucia, Juliet, Margarita, Pamina, Eurydice... - an ambassador of Polish musical culture and a singer with a truly global career.
