Muusikal "Cats"

From September 27, 2022, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking musical CATS will be performed on the stage of Alexela Concert Hall. This is the first time the original West End production will be performed in Estonia having captivated audiences in the West End, on Broadway and around the globe for more than 40 years. Tickets for the musical are on sale at Piletilevi starting from today.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats and set to music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS is a sparkling fusion of music, dance and verse.

The musical tells the story of the Jellicle cat tribe. On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

CATS is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history and celebrated its 40th anniversary on 14 May 2021.  CATS had its world premiere at the New London Theatre (now known as the Gillian Lynne) in 1981 where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances, winning both the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards for Best Musical.  Since, CATS has been presented in over 40 countries, translated into 15 languages and has been seen by over 73 million people world-wide.

The great musical score, created by Andrew Lloyd Webber, includes the hit song "Memory", which has been recorded by more than 150 artists, including Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis, Liberace and Barry Manilow. Local artist, Maarja-Liis Ilus has also performed the song.

With “timeless music, spectacular sets and a superb cast” (Daily Mirror), breathtaking choreography and of course the unforgettable “Memory”, CATS is a magical musical like no other.
