SCHUBERTIADE
March 21, 2024 in the Chamber Hall of the Estonian National Opera
Early spring sun rays and waters are warming your heart. Thus was also inspired Franz Schubert who spending his holiday in the middle of colourful Austrian nature wrote his piano quintet A major “The Trout” D. 667, Op. 114, a rich and melodious piece. It is one of the highlights of chamber repertoire, nicknamed after Schubert’s eponymous Lied that the composer used as a theme and variation in one of the quintet’s movements. Schubert’s chamber music was meant for making music among friends at home. Songs take a central part in his output and lay a foundation for the whole genre of Lied. Soloists: Heldur Harry Põlda (tenor), Mari Poll-Novakovic (violin), Kaarel Veenre (viola), Andreas Lend (cello), Michele Bonfante (bass), accompanied by Jaan Ots on the piano.
