QUIET MUSIC
November 2, 2023 in the Chamber Hall of the Estonian National Opera
On All Souls’ Day we will hear music that will temporarily lift us above the everyday triviality and warm our hearts. Let’s take a little time to see and think about what is happening inside us and in the world around us. The programme features “Spiegel im Spiegel” and “Estonian Lullaby” by Arvo Pärt, songs about love from the cycle “Ganymedes” Op. 53 to the texts of Marie Under by Urmas Sisask and the works by one of the most popular Ukrainian composers Valentyn Sylvestrov. The musical language of these composers is characterised by soulfulness and poetry that befits the quiet time of all souls. Soloist: Kristel Pärtna (soprano), René Soom (baritone), Maria Gorshenina (violin), accompanied by Jaanika Rand-Sirp on the piano.
