Maria Maksakova's "The Baltic Way" concert tour
in honor of the 100th anniversary of Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian and Finnish independence

Maria Maksakova, a prominent opera star, begins her concert tour "The Baltic Way". The upcoming concerts will be held in the capitals of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland, celebrating the 100th anniversary of their independence in 2017 - 2018. The name of the tour does not only reflect the geography of the singer's performances, but also directly refers to the famous events of 1989, which united the Baltic citizens in their struggle for democratic values and humanistic ideals. “The Baltic Way" demonstrated to the whole world the strong desire of the Baltic nations to gain freedom and independence, choose their own future, build a better life and welcome guests to their land.

Maria Maksakova's life perfectly demonstrates that the singer shares the aspirations and hopes of all free people. Her internal independence explains all the dramatic turns of her personal destiny, her bright individuality determines the broadness of her creative interests, while the common good directs Maria Maksakova's political activity. Maria's story is known all over the world, her civil position is close to every person, her voice has conquered millions of hearts. “The Baltic Way" continues.

Maria Maksakova
Opera singer, representative of the famous Maksakov’s artist dynasty, soloist of major opera houses (National Opera of Ukraine, Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, Helikon Opera). Together with Maestro Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre, she performed on the world's largest opera stages. Maria's three solo albums have been released by Universal record label.

In 1995, Maria Maksakova graduated from the Central musical school at the Moscow State Conservatory. At that very time, she began studying academic vocal at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music, which she graduated from with honors.  In 2000, she joined the New Opera Moscow theatre, where she was a leading soloist. Since 2003, she became a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow); in 2006, she began her cooperation with the Helikon Opera. Starting from 2011, she has been performing at the Mariinsky Theatre (St. Petersburg). In addition to the main roles in classical works, Maksakova has become the first performer of contemporary operas - Queen by David Tukhmanov and Albert and Giselle by Alexander Zhurbin. She has also performed the role of Princess Charlotte in the world premiere of  The Lefthander  by Rodion Shchedrin.

From 2016, Maria Maksakova has been living in Kiev. She's become a guest soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine and the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet theatre. She is also an associate professor, vocal teacher at the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management. In June 2017, she founded the “Maria Maksakova Charity Foundation” to support talented children of Ukraine in the field of academic arts.

On August 24, 2017, Maria Maksakova took part in an open-air gala concert “Maidan Nezalezhnosti – place to meet” in Kiev, dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine. Together with the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine, United States Air Force Orchestra, National Choir "Dumka" and soloists Pavel Gnitovim and Yuriy Minenko, Maria Maksakova became the first performer of the oratorio "Hail, Ukraine!" by the composer Ivan Taranenko and poet Dmitry Lazutkin.

During the XXIV Forum of publishers in Lviv Maria presented her children's book "Kingdom of the First Octave", which was published by the Laurus Publishing Company with the blessing of the legendary Ukrainian conductor Roman Kofman.

Filaret, Patriarch of Kiev and All Rus’-Ukraine, presented Maria Maksakova with the Order of the Holy Great Martyr St. Barbara.
