Tallinn’s Mustpeade (black heads) brotherhood was a union of single merchants and ship owners.
Already in 1406, the black heads were renting a house on Pikk street (Pikk 24-26), which remained as the center for the union until the summer of 1940. In 1531, the black heads purchased the house from town mayor Johann Vianti and started to renovate it by, back then, the very modern standards of renaissance, which turned out to be a big favor for Tallinn – Mustpeade house remains the only distinct renaissance-style building in Tallinn.
Mustpeade house’s 7 „rooms“ are today for rent while also offering full service for organizing receptions, company parties, conferences and other events.
