Salme Cultural Center is North-Tallinn’s main cultural institution.

The predecessor of Salme, J. Tomb Club, was founded in 1940 in Mustpeade house. The new building on Salme street was completed in 1965. This was accompanied by an intense increase in the center’s member clubs in the 1970s.

Lately, many collectives have settled in Salme, the reasons of which lay in the re-organizing or even liquidations of several others of Tallinn’s centers. At the moment, there are 39 collectives with over 1500 participants in Salme.

Today, Salme Cultural Center is North-Tallinn’s biggest and overall one of Tallinn’s biggest cultural activity centers and is gaining in reputation daily.

The center offers theatre plays, concerts for children, youth and adults, organizes balls, leisure- and dance nights.
