Gaetano Donizetti’s comedic opera, L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love), is a heartwarming tale about Nemorino, who is hopelessly in love with a wealthy farm girl. He buys an "elixir of love," hoping it will win him the girl's heart. Through a series of misunderstandings, comical incidents and Nemorino's heartfelt aria (Una furtiva lagrima), his romantic escapades ultimately reach a happy conclusion. The opera is celebrated for its beautiful melodies, wit, and human warmth.
