The Orchestre Français des Jeunes was founded in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture to prepare the nation's finest young musicians for professional orchestral careers. These gifted performers gather for intensive sessions, working alongside internationally acclaimed conductors and soloists.

The ensemble performs across France and abroad, appearing at venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris and in cities like Lille and Dijon, as well as at prestigious festivals and on summer tours. Each year, around a hundred exceptional music students participate in three working residencies. Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, they explore and perform cornerstones of orchestral repertoire spanning from the 18th century to the present day.

Starting in the summer of 2025, Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska will take over as Music Director. Her commitment to the younger generation, vast experience, and passion for contemporary music align with the orchestra's drive for artistic excellence.

Cellist Edgar Moreau is regarded as one of the most prominent French musicians of his era. He gained global recognition in 2011 after winning second prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition at just 17, making him one of the youngest laureates in the competition's history. Moreau has performed with leading orchestras on world-renowned stages, collaborating with celebrated conductors and soloists. While his repertoire spans from the Baroque to the modern day, he is particularly lauded for his interpretations of Romantic music. His playing is defined by a warm, lyrical tone, technical mastery, and mature expression.

Moreau performs on a 1711 David Tecchler cello, using a bow crafted by Dominique Peccatte.

Duration: appr. 2 h 15 min (with intermission)
