Mere Cultural Centre invites you to a concert by Aavik Duo on the eve of International Music Day!

On 30 September at 7:00 PM, the brilliant chamber ensemble Aavik Duo will take the stage in the Grand Hall of Mere Cultural Centre.

Aavik Duo’s concerts are characterised by virtuosity, a refi ned sense of sound, and remarkably natural musical interplay. Hans Christian Aavik (violin) and Karolina Aavik (piano) are among the most distinctive representatives of the new generation of musicians, known for their fresh ideas, diverse repertoire, and willingness to take artistic risks. The duo’s programmes are meticulously crafted, while their interpretations remain free, imaginative, and full of life.
Aavik Duo began their collaboration in 2014, when both musicians were still studying at Tallinn Music High School. The violinist and pianist share a deep respect for music, a thoughtful approach to each work, and a desire to explore its wider context. Their performances captivate audiences with their natural and sincere musical expression, brilliant virtuosity, and refi ned sense of sound. Both musicians are currently continuing their studies in Germany at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and the Kronberg Academy, the latter of which has been described as a new Mecca for chamber music.
The duo has received numerous prizes and accolades at both national and international competitions and has performed on prestigious concert stages internationally.
The eve of International Music Day at Mere Cultural Centre offers an opportunity to experience chamber music of the highest calibre — up close, fresh, and alive.
The concert begins at 7:00 PM. Doors open one hour before the performance.
Merekohin is Mere Cultural Centre’s live music concert series. We bring acclaimed musicians and unforgettable concert experiences to the heart of Tallinn!
