British music troubadour Benjamin Clementine is coming to Vilnius
British music troubadour and poet Benjamin Clementine is returning to Vilnius on June 23. Benjamin Clementine, you, us and the unique Lukiškės Prison complex.
The rumours that Benjamin Clementine is leaving music behind for cinema remain just rumours. The previously announced farewell to Lithuania also turned out to be nothing more than fiction. He is too talented not to be on stage.
Benjamin is not a typical artist. You can still find phone-filmed videos online of him playing in the Paris metro. Today even the most respected music critics call Benjamin Clementine a musical visionary and praise his extraordinary talent. An inspiring story and person.
Lithuania holds a special place in Benjamin Clementine’s heart. The beginnings of that bond could already be felt in 2016 when Benjamin Clementine visited Vilnius for the first time. For many listeners, that was a beautiful discovery. Time flies. On 23th of June it will be 4th time Benjamin Clementine visiting Vilnius.
‘It is not every day that you meet an audience so attentive, one that senses when to focus, when to respond and when to join in with the song,” Benjamin Clementine shared after one of his performances in Vilnius. That time he translated the chorus of ‘Condolence’ into Lithuanian and performed it together with the audience.
Benjamin Clementine who has played the piano since childhood is a brilliant composer, a self-taught musician and a remarkable poet. On stage, it is impossible to take your eyes off him.
Benjamin Clementine is minimalistic but very theatrical. He often performs barefoot, dressed in dark, sharply tailored clothing. His ascetic visual presence contrasts with the musical intensity unfolding on stage. Clementine never repeats himself and is a masterful storyteller. Each time he creates a new concept for his performance and presents his sound in a different way. Let’s see how Benjamin Clementine surprises us this time.
