Very Cool People - Labākais no labākā kopā ar labākajiem draugiem. Lielākais mazkoncerts
“Very Cool People” announce the Biggest Small Concert with new single “Dimd Rīga”
The creative buzz of the band Very Cool People never stops. With the arrival of the golden autumn, they are releasing their new single and music video “Dimd Rīga” - the first herald of spring celebrations to come on 27 March next year at the concert hall Palladium. On that day, Riga will be shaken by Very Cool People’s Biggest Small Concert, under the motto: “The best of the best together with the best friends and the best audience in the world.”
The new single stays true to the band’s finest traditions, merging funk, jazz, dance, and so-called world music into a unique cocktail mixed only in the way that Very Cool People know how.
“This instrumental piece is a musical representation of Riga - a city where countless cultures and influences blend together,” says the band’s leader and guitarist Elvijs Grafcovs. “You can see it in the architecture, in the very layout of the streets, and in the two contrasting yet inseparable sides of the city - the right and the left shore of the Daugava River.”
As some may recognize from the title, the new single also incorporates motives from the Latvian folk song “Rīga dimd.”With this resonant rumble, Very Cool People invite everyone to their largest small concert yet. The show will feature the band’s most popular tracks and refreshed versions of their brightest collaborations with the band’s good friends: Daniela Mase, Paula Saija, Edavārdi, Aija Andrejeva, Ralfs Eilands, Kristīne Prauliņa, Žoržs Siksna, Ozols, and several other truly wonderful artists.
On 27 March at Palladium, the audience will hear both the latest songs and well-loved hits from the band’s ten albums and a long list of singles. It will be an evening full of energy and joy, where funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop, rock, and pure improvisation meet. Years of fine-tuned musical interplay, countless tours across Europe and beyond, and many hours spent in various studios have accumulated into experience that is ready to let off some steam - so that the Very Cool People kettle can keep boiling.
The musicians themselves describe what they do very simply: a musical party without stylistic boundaries. And the best way to experience that is live - at concerts where meeting Very Cool People means both top-quality performance and a great time together.
The new composition was written by Elvijs Grafcovs and the band’s saxophonist Māris Jēkabsons, while production was supported by Jānis Kalve. It was recorded at Very Cool Studio with the band’s core lineup: trombonist Laura Rozenberga, guitarist Elvijs Grafcovs, trumpeter Oskars Ozoliņš, tenor saxophonist Māris Jēkabsons, baritone saxophonist Kristaps Lubovs, keyboardists Māris Vitkus and Andris Kauliņš, bassist Jānis Olekšs, and drummer Andris Buiķis. The “Dimd Rīga” music video was created by Valdis Krūmiņš.
The single “Dimd Rīga” is already on the airwaves of the best radio stations and streaming on major music platforms online. Tickets for the Biggest Small Concert are available at Biļešu Serviss ticket offices and on bilesuserviss.lv.
