TANGO. THE GOLDEN YEARS
Produced by Marcos Ayala Dance Company

April 18 – Vanemuise Kontserdimaja, Tartu
April 19 – Alexela Kontserdimaja, Tallinn

“Tango Golden Years” takes you into a world where tango meets jazz.
From Buenos Aires to Harlem, from the 1920s to the 1930s: the performance transports the audience to a golden age when music and dance became voices of freedom, identity, and celebration.

Under the artistic direction of Marcos Ayala, internationally acclaimed for his innovative vision of tango, “Tango Golden Years” becomes a vibrant musical and choreographic journey through the era of swing, big bands, underground clubs, tango canción, and the milonga. It is a world of light and shadow, where dance turns into history, memory awakens with every step, and rhythm resounds as the voice of freedom.

The performance speaks to our time – to the power of art that unites cultures, breaks down borders, and transforms pain into beauty.

The company from Buenos Aires has already toured across Europe and Estonia: in 2023 with “Tango. Where the story begins” and in 2024 with “Tango in the Shadows.” The new program, “Tango Golden Years,” will bring elegance and rhythm, fresh emotions, passion, the strength of love, and freedom.

Marcos Ayala Dance Company is an Argentinian troupe founded in Buenos Aires in 2010 by choreographer and dancer Marcos Ayala. At the core of its productions is the classical Argentine tango, combined with contemporary theatre, music, and visual art.
