Following a successful and warmly received concert in Estonia with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields orchestra, Julia Fischer wanted to return with her string quartet. This ensemble is considered a top-tier quartet, highly sought after on the world's most renowned stages.

 

This quartet brings together Julia Fischer and three accomplished musicians. Alongside Fischer, who many consider one of the world's leading violinists, the group features violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, violist Nils Mönkemeyer, and cellist Benjamin Nyffenegger. All four artists have also performed a variety of chamber music in different ensembles.

The musicians first met in 2010 at Julia Fischer's festival in Starnberg. It was there they decided to form a permanent string quartet. They found a shared vision and an equal commitment to the group, while also being receptive to each other's ideas. The Julia Fischer Quartet has performed at venues like Wigmore Hall, Zurich’s Tonhalle, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Munich’s Prinzregententheater, and Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, among other well-known halls.

Estonian audiences may recognize Nils Mönkemeyer from his successful 2022 tour with conductor Kristiina Poska and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, where he was the featured soloist for the Walton´s Viola concerto. Benjamin Nyffenegger, the principal cellist of the Estonian Festival Orchestra is a regular guest at the Pärnu Music Festival
