Kontsertinstallatsioon ''Esemete Orkester'' | Lauri Lest
Concert Installation “Orchestra of Objects” | Lauri Lest
August 21.2026 — Attic of the House of the Blackheads (Mustpeade maja)
The duration of one musical cycle is 13 minutes. The ticket guarantees single entry within the time slot indicated on the ticket.
“Orchestra of Objects” is a concert in which a washing machine, a bedside table, a watering can, and other household items come to life. They form an orchestra in the attic of the House of the Blackheads and perform music composed especially for them. Ceiling and floor light fixtures also take part.
The orchestra has been brought together at the House of the Blackheads by Estonian musician, sound and performance artist Lauri Lest, who creates and performs atmospheric electronic music and works with found objects, vibration speakers, light, and audio and video editing software. Through his music installations—often site-specific and made from discarded objects—he activates spaces and locations that are otherwise abandoned or considered secondary. His work can be described as melancholic, dreamlike, experimental, and at times humorous.
At the 2026 Estonian Theatre Awards, Lauri received the Performing Arts Award for the sound design of the production “Ether” (Theatre Ekspeditsioon) and for the concert-performance “Orchestra of Objects” (Paavli Culture Factory).
Please note that the concert installation uses lighting effects that may not be suitable for everyone—the lights also flash during the performance and the space becomes completely dark at times.
Organized by Tallinn Philharmonic Society.
