Apocalyptica will present their new album in Estonia in October
Symphonic metal music flagship Apocalyptica will perform in Estonia in the fall with their new album tour “Plays Metallica Vol. 2 Tour 2024”. The new “Plays Metallica Vol. 2” album’s songs will be played in Alexela Concert Hall on the 22nd of October.
Apocalyptica’s tenth studio album is a sequel to the legendary 1996 debut album “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos“. With the new album the band will be returning to their roots and will continue a symphonic tribute to the heavy metal titan Metallica. The album will be followed by a European tour which will make its way to Tallinn in the coming fall.
“It’s incredible to think that after all these years our tribute to Metallica still speaks so powerfully to people. To be able to share our love for Metallica’s music with a live audience is an absolutely magical experience. This time the show is going to be next level, and we can’t wait to get back out there and share the fun with our fans!” bandleader Eicca Toppinen describes the new album and tour. The band will publish the first single from the album “Plays Metallica Vol. 2” with a music video on the 23rd of February.
Apocalyptica was formed in 1993 in Helsinki and make their music in the neoclassical genre where usual metal music instruments like guitars and bass are absent. The band consists of three Sibelius Academy graduated cellists named Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen and Perttu Kivilaakso. Apocalyptica’s nine studio albums so far consist of covers and original material, songs with and without vocals, and their versions of songs from metal and classical music.
Apocalyptica have been fortunate to support Metallica in concert but also to perform with their idols in 2011 when Matellica was celebrating their 30th anniversary in San Francisco. Together they performed three songs: "No Leaf Clover", "One" and "Seek & Destroy". Apocalyptica has made some impressive collaborations on their songs with musicians like Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Till Lindemann (Rammstein), Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Sepultura), Matt Tuck (Bullet for my Valentine), Joseph Duplantier (Gojira), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Sandra Nasic (Guano Apes), Ville Valo (HIM), Lauri Ylönen (The Rasmus), Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace), Elize Ryd (Amaranthe).
Tickets to Apocalyptica’s concert will become available from the 23rd of February at 10:00AM starting from 39€ on the Piletilevi webpage and box offices. Presale is available from the 22nd of February for Musaklubi Facebook page followers and Piletilevi newsletter recipients. VIP upgrades are also available on the band’s webpage (www.apocalyptica.com/) and must be purchased in addition to the general admission ticket.
