Event description:

The listening tour is part of the Koidukoor event series. The two-hour workshop takes us to listen to the sounds of an early spring morning. We identify birds and other nature sounds with experts in our field.

Koidukoor offers the opportunity to experience and learn about Estonia's extraordinary landscapes and habitats through sounds, at a time of year when the sounds of nature are especially bright.

Koidukoor is a multi-day event featuring listening tours, a sound camp and a global live streaming of the sounds of the dawn.

The soundcamp takes place in the first week of May and brings together sound artists and students, those who are interested in the sounds of nature. They share knowledge (both technical and ornithological) and record nature sounds. The sound camp culminates with the Dawn Chorus, a day when the natural sounds of sunrise are broadcast over the internet 24 hours a day around the world. Project partner Soundcamp is the leader of this global project and will come to Mooste for that time, so not only natural sounds will be transmitted from Mooste to the world, but Mooste will become a 24/7 center for transmitting and mixing global natural sounds.

The event brings together sound artists and nature sound enthusiasts, and culminates with the Dawn Chorus, a day when the natural sounds of sunrise are streamed around the world for 24 hours. The leader of this global project is Soundcamp, who, in cooperation with MoKS and local sound enthusiasts, transmit the natural sounds of Southern Estonia to this global project.

The Dawn Choir is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main program.
