Newborn Gallery
A newborn's brain is known to be the world's most powerful learning apparatus. At the very beginning, the unique spatial requirements of the infant shape and influence their experiences. The Newborn Gallery, which combines art, science, and the spatial needs of newborns, is part of the main program of Tartu 2024, the European Capital of Culture.
The two-layered gallery is designed to meet the needs of newborns, providing the smallest ones with a sense of spatial, artistic, and proximity perception, while offering the rest of the visitors a scientific insight into the perceptual world of newborns.
In the Newborn Gallery, two worlds come together – the infants' own world and the quest for understanding how our perception of the world begins and develops. What connections are formed and which ones fade away? By exploring where we all started, we learn about ourselves and our story.
