Formed in 1991 in Gdańsk, Behemoth is a pioneering force in the Polish extreme metal underground scene. Led by Adam “Nergal” Darski (guitar and vocals), Inferno (drums), and Orion (bass, backing vocals), the band's music has evolved from traditional black metal to a unique fusion of death metal and occult themes. Their distinctive style stands out prominently in the metal world.

Throughout their 31-year career, Behemoth, led by Nergal, has transcended the boundaries of ordinary black metal, becoming a symbol of rebellion and individuality. They have created controversy, challenging mainstream media and the Polish Catholic Church, with Nergal even facing a trial for tearing up the Bible and accusations of blasphemy. These experiences not only exposed societal hypocrisy but also solidified Nergal's unwavering commitment to his beliefs.

Despite the controversies, Behemoth's music has garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. In 2010, their album "Evangelion" was honored as the Heavy Metal Album of the Year at the Roku Heavy Metal Awards. Additionally, their album "The Satanist" received the Album of the Year award at the 2014 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards.

While Behemoth enjoys global recognition, they remain steadfastly rooted in their underground ethos, refusing to compromise. Their 12th studio album, "Opvs Contra Natvram”, released in 2022, showcases the band's enduring vitality and their evolution as musicians.

“The album title means going against the current,” Nergal explains. “It’s the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I’ve seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture - cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. This is my middle finger to that.”

In Tallinn, Behemoth will be joined by the legendary US thrash metal band Testament. Their latest album demonstrates how they have maintained their thrash metal roots while infusing fresh progressive elements into their music. The intricate guitar work of Peterson and Skolnick, new vocal styles, and exceptional bass playing promise an electrifying concert experience.
