Festival Klaaspärlimäng 2024

Show descriptionHide description

Baroque and Modernity Meet at the Summer Music Festival Klaaspärlimäng

The most important classical music event of Tartu’s music summer, Klaaspärlimäng, will bring numerous baroque music gems to the stage this year, performed by various Estonian and international ensembles. Special moments during the six-day festival will include performances by the Estonian National Male Choir (RAM) with Rein Rannap, our leading violin virtuoso Hans Christian Aavik under the direction of Neeme Järvi, and many others.

As usual, Klaaspärlimäng, held at St. John’s Church in Tartu, will feature something unexpected. This time, the concert “Middle East Meets Baroque” will present selected baroque pieces played on oriental instruments.

Another staple is the “Out of Frame” concert on Autovabaduse Street – this year featuring the always engaging ensemble Zetod.

Grandmaster Gidon Kremer, arriving in Estonia specifically for the festival, will showcase his unparalleled violin talent with Kremerata Baltica.

This year, a highlight among premieres is “The Rain Falls Far From Us” by Lithuanian composer Loreta Narvilaitė.

Klaaspärlimäng will take place at St. John’s Church in Tartu from July 4th to 9th.
