The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC) is undoubtedly one of the most well-known Estonian ensembles in the wide world. At this year's festival, EPCC offers listeners a poignant musical experience, bringing together premieres and new compositions from composers of the Baltic states. The choir's resonant sound will be enriched with live electronics on this evening. Conducted by MAI SIMSON.

Under the direction of Mai Simson, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform a freshly commissioned work by Krõõt-Kärt Kaev, as well as the choral work «Sensus» by Latvia's esteemed composer Krists Auznieks, the internationally acclaimed Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė's «Iridescence» and Maria Kõrvits's poetic nocturne «Night. O you …». Composer Marianna Liik provides an opportunity to delve into biblical imagery with her alluring choral work, inspired by psalm texts.

Estonian Music Days is the most important continuously held contemporary music festival in Estonia. Over the decades it has become undeniably the most significant platform for Estonian composers, new musical creations, and artistic growth. What makes the festival unique is the abundance of premieres of Estonian composers' newly commissioned works.

In 2024 Tartu is the cultural capital of Europe. Therefore the festival Estonian Music Days will join forces with three neighboring countries to become a larger event that unites Baltic and Estonian Music Days. In addition to recognized Estonian ensembles and soloists, musicians from Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland are also expected.

The Festival Baltic and Estonian Music Days is a part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme.
