Formed in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, The HU uses traditional Mongolian music and mixes it with modern rock elements. The result is a captivating cocktail that has enchanted audiences around the world. The band is made up of Gala, Jaya, Temka, and Enkush. The HU's music is deeply embedded in their ancient culture, even incorporating old Mongolian war cries and poems. The ancient instruments they use, such as the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), and Tumur Khuur (lute harp), also come from a rich cultural heritage. These are accompanied by modern guitar instruments, creating a hypnotic blend with throat singing.
The HU's name is derived from the Mongolian root word for human. They call their style of music "Hunnu rock," as they are greatly inspired by the Hunnu, the ancient Mongol Empire. In the West, we know them better as the Huns.
