True to form for a jubilee celebration, the list of artists is truly outstanding for any music lover. 

The Italian pop opera sensation The Italian Tenors will return to Estonia

Next October, the unique The Italian Tenors will give three concerts in Estonia as part of their ‘Viva La Vita’ tour. The trio performed in Estonia for the first time this spring, selling out concert halls at record speed.

Christmas Jazz festival’s 20th birthday lineup is now up!

28 November - 16 December jubilee programme of Christmas Jazz 2015 is now up! The headliners of the festival are the elite pianist Cijay Iyer Trio and the Portuguese fado star Ana Moura.

 

The blind sales campaign for Christmas Jazz sold 816 tickets. Full price tickets are still available for all the concerts! The most popular tickets were for the headliners Ana Moura, Kellylee Evans, and Manu Delago concerts. Genka Nu Jazz-Hop family concert was the most popular from Estonian artists.

 

Vijay Iyer has been named America’s best jazz pianists by the renowned jazz magazines Down Beat and Jazz Times, and by the association jazz journalists of the world. The Indian pianist and composer has released 20 albums with his bands, the last ones have been under the famous record label ECM. His trio’s latest releases have claimed the status of jazz album of the year.

 

Ana Moura is a Portuguese fado star whose concert sold out at the spring Jazzkaar in 2009. The singer performs in big concert halls all over the world. The appreciators of her talent are among others the members of Rolling Stones and Prince, both whom she has also performed with. Ana Moura’s Christmas tour will bring both the melodies from her latest album, but also the earlier audience favourites.

 

Christmas Jazz 20th birthday celebrating festival will be opened by the charming and unique Canadian singer Kellylee Evans. Among the treats offered by Christmas Jazz are the band Migration of the Grammy-winning drummer Antonio Sanchez, the special performance by Manu Delago on the hang drums, the Japanese-French duo Donkey Monkey, and the concert celebrating Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday where the English singer Stephen Triffit and Estonian Dream Big Band come together on the stage. The concert is a collaboration of Eesti Kontsert and Jazzkaar.

 

The Estonian Jazz Association and Christmas Jazz bring together the Mexican percussion virtuoso Miguel Cruz and brilliant Estonian musicians for  programme of Latin music. Erki Pärnoja ja Marti Tärn have invited the reputable Hungarian Musician Aron Portelek in their trio. Friends over the sea guitar virtuosos Ain Agan and Teemu Viinikainen present the programme of their new album ‘Now I Know’ with Mihkel Mälgand and Mika Kallio. Raul and Marie Vaigla step up with the Finnish trumpet player Tero Saarti. Singer-actor Lauri Saatpalu’s collaboration with jazz musicians will continue with Dagö’s songs in a key of jazz. Rebecca Kontus will put together a programme to celebrate the legendary singer Edith Piaf’s 100th birthday. Robert Jürjendal’s spiritual musical journey is accompanied by the percussion-virtuoso Madis Matsamart. The winner of Noortebänd 2014 Innersound will bring music from their fresh album to the fans. Genka with a jazz quartet will tell fun stories and offer words of wisdom with a pinch of humor. 

 

In addition to Tallinn, lovely Christmas Jazz conerts will take place in Tartu, Pärnu, Viljandi, and Haapsalu.
